This style is based on Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga Primary Series; a traditional and very powerful practice. In Sanskrit it is called “Yoga Chikitsa” meaning “Yoga Therapy”, because of the cleansing and toning effect it has on body and mind.

A dynamic flow is created by synchronising the breath with a specific series of postures; this produces intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that in turn detoxifies muscles and organs.

On a physical level, by utilizing breath, bandhas (locks) and drishti (gaze) a continuous series of asanas (poses) builds strength and flexibility, loosening tight muscles and realigning and detoxifying the body and nervous system.

On a mental level and through regular practice, focus, willpower, mind-body awareness and confidence are improved.

On a subtle level the Primary series works therapeutically to clear obstacles in the energy channels in the body (known as Nadis). This clearing of obstacles allows the Prana (energy) to flow more freely so the body and mind are therefore allowed to work more effectively.

The result is improved circulation, a light and strong body and calm mind.
